What is Addiction?

Addiction is defined as a chronic, relapsing brain disease that is characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite complulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences. It is considered a brain disease because drugs change the brain; they change its structure and how it works. Once this cycle begins, physical dependence develops into daily drug use which causes addiction; Once developed the addicted individual is forced to use these drugs 3 times or more daily just to avoid withdrawl sickness or to feel "normal".

Sadly, too many people allow the stigma associated with opiate addiction to keep them from getting the help they need --help that may save their lives.

The hardest part of solving any problem is taking the first step.

This is why we are always available to discuss your concerns confinetially and even anonymously until you are ready to take the next step. Not only are we happy to talk with you on the phone but our frinedly staff is also abaialbe via appointent.

Methadone Maintenance

Methadone works on parts of the brain and spinal cord to block the "high" caused by using opiates. It helps reduce the craving and withdrawal symptoms caused by opiate use.

Methadone is commonly used to treat addiction to opiates. It is taken once a day to ease the opiate withdrawal for 24 to 36 hours, decreasing the chance of relapse.

At BNJ our team of counselors, nurses and doctors work with you to ease your transition at your pace. We offer our methadone maintenance service at all four locations on weekdays from 5am until 11am and Saturdays from 6am until 9:30am.

Outpatient Therapy

Washington Boulevard Location

Our Outpatient Therapy (OP) for drug addiction, chemical dependency or dual diagnosis issues is a step down from our IOP program. The outpatient program also includes individualized therapy sessions and group sessions. In this phase of treatment, the program is adjusted to meet his/her ongoing recovery needs. In the outpatient phase of treatment, the focus shifts towards external change, where clients are provided the tools to help prevent relapse. With these steps in place we make an effort to help create a system for sustained recovery.
